After watching a powerful reenactment of the crucifixion on youtube, the case of thieves on each side of Christ played again in my mind. It’s not the first time that I had thought of them, but a new thought struck. Both men were criminals, rebels, thieves, and likely murderers as well. They had lived evil lives. They deserved death, “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23, KJV, first part), but it was at the appointed time of their execution that both of these men met Christ. He hung on the cross between them, the Final Sacrifice, dying for all sinners (1 Peter 3:18). Christ was dying for even these two thieves!
